Cakes

Cakes. They can be colorful, solid, intricate or simple. They can have stripes or polka dots, flowers or fruit. They can even have bugs and animals on them. They are as beautiful to the taste buds as they are to the eye. There is no question about it. Cakes are awesome. The people who make them are very talented.
Recently my sister and I have started taking cake decorating lessons. We have found that it is an art within itself. While some of the steps and techniques may be simple, others can be very difficult. For instance the roses. They are beautiful if you master them, but the hard part is mastering them.
Our teacher is a very talented and patient young lady. She has shown us pictures of some of the cakes she has done. It not only give us ideas, but it also gives us inspiration. She also does not hesitate to tell us an easier or cheaper way to do some of the things.
My sister and I plan on taking all four courses. That way we can make more beautiful cakes for birthdays, Christmas, Thanksgiving, and other such occasions. So far we have each made two cakes and we have also made cupcakes. The two cakes were practicing the techniques from class. The cupcakes were for our Sunday meeting. We plan on making two more cakes this week. We may give those to the Fire and Police Station. We also have to make our two final cakes for course one and our neighbor’s little girl wants us to make her a birthday cake in January. As you can tell, we will be getting plenty of practice at the techniques that we are learning.
I hope that we can keep you updated on our progress and that you will enjoy looking at our cakes as much as we enjoy making them.
