Well God has blessed us with a wonderful New Year already. We pray your New Year is blessed and you desire to serve the Lord more this year than before.
We finished 2008 and started 2009 at church. The church we are visiting had a very nice time of fellowship. We ate, played some games, listen to some of the members speak, sang, and brought in the new year in prayer. It was a wonderful time! The girls made a 5 layer cake (3 layers of Red Velvet, 2 layers of white cake with red sprinkles and in between the layers they put strawberry filling). I wish I would have gotten a pic of the cake after it was cut because it was really a pretty cake. I think the girls enjoyed dipping the strawberries in chocolate the most. It turned out very nice and tasted WONDERFUL!!! I am so proud of how they are progressing with their cake making.

This week has been and is continuing to be a busy week. ......

D had a double ear infection in December and is still having problems with ear pain even after 2 rounds of antibiotics. So the allergist sent us to an Ear specialist who is running lots of test. He ran a few this week and will run more next week.

K finished up her hand therapy last week and we went back to the doctor this week. We are VERY happy to report that we no longer have to leave our home to go out to physical therapy. The doctor was VERY pleased with her progress and feels she has been diligent enough at home to just continue her exercise and therapy at home. YEAH!!!! She gave her some patches to put on her hand to reduce scarring. And told her it was VERY important to keep messaging those scars to keep the scar tissue down. Scars do not mature until 1 year. K is just thrilled she can actually turn her hand out and lay it upside down.

Piano this week has had its challenges. Both girls are participating in a Music Festival put on by the National Federation of Music. K will just be playing pieces made for 1 hand piano playing. This requires them to have 1 piece of music (chosen by the federation) and 1 piece of music (chosen by them them) memorized and "perfected". There were several rules, the main ones are that the piece they choose had to be the original works (not modified), it had to be by a non-American composer and of equal difficulty level to the piece that the federation picked for them. We JUST found out Monday that the Federation didn't approve D's piece she chose (Minuet in G by Bach), so she had to scramble to find something she knew enough to "perfect" in 10 days. So she is now playing Fur Elise by Beethoven.

Then to finish out our week, our family will be attending the San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival. We are all looking forward to this. It starts tonight and finishes off Saturday night. Besides the wonderful films we get to see and the old friends we have not seen in awhile, we will also get to see many wonderful speakers/entertainers. We have been to this before and we all really enjoyed it. We pray you have a wonderful week too!!!
