Today, after a beautiful sunrise, we left on our wonderfully exciting east coast trip! I can’t believe that we were able to fit five weeks of clothes, books, shoes, food, and school in our mini-van. Let’s just say we are packed in here tighter than a can of sardines!
We started out about 3:00 and made it into Houston at about 6:00. We didn’t’ hit that much traffic. Only a little bit. Once the traffic started to back up we went into the HOV lane and kept on going…… until it dropped us in the middle of downtown Houston! What HOV lane drops you in the middle of downtown!?! We also found that we have been driving in San Antonio for too long when my mom, talking to the driver in front of her, asked why he was cutting her off. He was simply trying to get out of the police officers way. We also noticed it when we saw San Jacinto mall. Mamma was telling about it. I asked if is was pronounced Hacinto she said no the J was a J……..We really needed this vacation. XD
We saw a giant fire hydrant, the one that the use in the 101 Dalmatians movie. We got there at night and it was ghost town! There was no one there. It was so quiet that if you heard any noise it'd made you jump.
Next we stopped at a little town in Louisiana called Raine.
They have a giant frog sculpture. It is silver and has a top hat. It is silver
and has no skin to show that underneath we are all the same color. Very true!
Well tonight we got as far as Lafayette and we stayed in a
La Quinta. Finally, something I can pronounce. All of this French is rather
troublesome when you are used to Spanish with a Texas twist. :) It was a wonderful hotel. We walked in and it
smelled so nice and clean! The staff was so nice. I hope that we are so blessed
at the rest of our hotels.
